LAC Regional Workforce Development Program: Jamaica Labor Market Assessment
Using FHI 360’s rigorous labor market assessment framework to evaluate market demand for skills in Jamaica, this study’s authors analyze a blend of quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate prevailing economic trends and identify priority growth sectors. Conducted through a lens of secondary education, the analysis looks within certain priority sectors — tourism, agribusiness and creative industries — to evaluate the demand for technical education graduates against the supply of qualified workers. Key findings are synthesized into value chains to illustrate employer skills demands, employment entry points and technical education needs.
This assessment helps decision-makers in Jamaica understand the demand for skills and contributes to the larger effort in bridging the skills gap between labor market supply (education) and demand (employers).
